Complete garbage. Dei casting everywhere. The entire first story revolves around racist skinhead nazis and their so called peaceful victims
minorities in their woke bar where the entrance has a giant sign saying 'no racism, not sexism, no hemophobia' The violent nazis show up at
the woke bar and push their way in, then just push some stuff over and call people names and leave, that's it. The snowflake wokies then claim
they were attacked and had their asses kicked so they execute a plan to arm themselves and violently attack and murder the nazis while celebrating how brave they are. There is of course the white male with the Asian love interest to keep the mixed race agenda alive. I hit stop as soon as the second 'tale' started with a white cop going into an ice cream shop and going on a racist sexist rant to the two black females. The acting is terrible the FX are all bad CG. Nothing about this is period accurate to the 80's. This is just some Gen Z woke D-Bags playing dress up and complaining about how bad the past was.

Average, but who's the target audience?
I watched this one not knowing the Japanese original, beyond that it existed, and assuming it would relate to the Japanese gambling genre, so, unabashedly over the top and hyper-intellectualized.
This American adaptation is not.
The depth is on par with a puppy’s piss puddle. The plot is a rather bland fare, and the twists are easily anticipated.
It does have a few things going for it, though.
First, it’s a short watch, at ten 30-minutes episodes. And attention is not completely required (although I may have missed some subtle plot points).
Second, the pacing is correct, and there is enough creative cinematography for the show to not be boring. Some visual cues are probably lifted from the original.
Third, the actors. They’re young, apparently unknown, trying their collective best, and they get off pretty well, considering the very peculiar script.
Solanke does honourably with a weak character, O’Driscoll and Alexandrova are quite adequate, despite maybe too much posing (but it goes with the genre).
Martineau is, to my mind, the hot chick version of Chow Yun-Fat. I don’t mean just being Asian; she does have the same sort of face, and tend to mimic his facial expressions.
The result is both very pleasant, and somewhat distressing. I’m never watching Hard Boiled again.
She does have the enthusiastic psychopath down pat, and will probably improve her femme fatale with a few more years on her. The rest of her acting is rather lacklustre, but this could honestly be due to a weak script.
On the bad side: Americanized. And not the good-ol-days America.
So, first, blackened. Or blackified. Black-faced? The Japanese have opinions about the darker-skinned denizens of the world, and very few of them in their art.
To be fair, Solanke’s character is not your typical ghetto/gangsta caricature, so there’s that.
On the other hand, Edwards’ Mary is a typical girl boss. Not Japanese ice-queen boss bitch, as the other females. American girl boss. And Edwards herself is a clear DIE casting choice, and blends very badly with the rest of the rather gorgeous female cast. No shade on the actress, she looks like the director forced her to pack weight for the role.
Also, weak males. Left and right. All around. And also stupid. But somewhat handsome. Seriously. Is something in the water turning the frogs gay?
Third, gender fluidity, strawman mockery of “traditional masculinity”, and pervasive sapphism, which could very well be in the original. None of these are pushed very hard, tough. Almost as if boxes needed checking, but reluctantly. Weird.
So, a triumph of form over substance, not a bad watch, but not memorable either.

Every policeman doctor or other position was held by brown people in the 80s
Despite the constant increase in diversity with each movie its still watchable

The best marvel film in years
I won't say the MCU is back, but it's looking like it. This is a 2020s marvel movie-of course there's strong woman character. But that's the extent of the wokeness. Expertly written script that is surprisingly emotional and a killer villain provide this movie with everything it needed to shine. Highly recommend.

Incredible movie, despite its wokeness
Conservatives nowadays are more sensitive than liberals. This movie was fantastic in every way possible. It was going to be woke-Black director, mostly black cast, white villains, etc. Then again, here I am giving this a 5/5. What the fuck did you expect with a movie about black people in the 1930s dirty south? Not every movie has to be pro-white, pro nuclear family to be good. Get your heads out of your asses and just appreciate cinema for what it is instead of being pussies because black people good white people bad.

I was expecting a bank robbery movie
I went to see this movie in the theater assuming Woke wasn’t very pervasive in the 1970’s. I was wrong. To be fair I generally liked the movie overall. It was well made and Al Pacino is one of the best actors.
Subjects related to gay, transgender, gay community, sex changes, race wars, etc. are all present. I was expecting a bank robbery movie. It is said this is a “True” story but we all know the news/media spins things to their liking so how true this story is, is a matter of conjecture. But at least it promoted polygamy.
My result is the stories Hollywood have always produced will always have some socio-political goal, or at least they will try to force their ideas on you. I was unhappily surprised by the as promote excellent movie.

Sneaks it in at the end. Or, so to speak.
If not for my wife, how would I ever know about these shows? I sat through an episode or two of the first season and kind of enjoyed it. Fast forward a few days of my wife binge watching and, poof, one of the main characters is now a gay. He rolls around in bed with some other dude and basically does gay things. How did he become gay? Was he hit by lightning? A bus? Who the hell knows.
I did notice a ton of sophomoric toilet humor that would really appeal to the thirteen year old in me, except I'm no longer that age. My wife noticed tons of penis scenes too but, lucky, I missed them. Does anyone want to see that? I know women have been running around naked in films for years, but let's face it, they kind of look a lot better than a dude with his junk hanging all out.

2 episodes in i'm relatively enjoying it.
But.. as mentioned in the other review you will instantly be confronted with faggotry, atleast it's not guys so far, but still the impression it gives is this.
"Lets create this team of scientists and put every single woke thing into it, an ugly lesbian couple, one who is an allright looking actress but give her short hair, make the other woman completely ugly, and then an ugly black woman as the 'leader' who constantly has panic attacks and put it all together."
The premise is good, and the show is actually okay.. but it could be MUCH better without that bullshit.

educationally woke - tries to hide its overall message
An "elderly" successful woman has an affair with a young guy in his twenties. Every company meeting is DEI cast - everywhere you see more people standing around they're well mixed, i.e. always Asian, African, White (and obese) together. The business woman has two daughters - one is lesbian and when she is in the pool with the neighbor's 17-year old daughter the main concern is that age (17) might be a problem. The 20-something lover wants his old-gal lover to say out loud that she will follow all his orders. At first I thought this might be a kind of dirty talk - but then it dawned on me. No, this is "only yes is yes", as in Swedish law, where either you verbally agree or it's practically rape. I could go on and on. This is a far cry from great old woman young guy movies like White Palace with Susan Sarandon - unpleasantly woke. The older woman has normal sex, but - woe is me! - from behind. Her husband finds this degrading. With the intern it's (of course) different, but they actually have to agree on a "safe word" as in hardcore bdsm - mind you, for pretty normal heterosexual encounters. This is about as "daring" as "naked" table legs in Victorian Britain. The main actresses black colleague hints at blackmailing her for the sin of sleeping with someone from the office hierarchically below her (tut, tut) ...

Shyamalan has hit rock bottom with this one. This may actually be worse than the Happening. The writing is so bad and unrealistic I would guess
A.I. was involved with this one. Nobody talks or acts like real people do. Every single scene is the dumbest most unrealistic thing they could
think of. There is so much wrong with the writing I'm not even wasting time listing some of it. Hartnett is fun to watch as the over the top
psycho but that's really all there is to it. Most of the other acting is bad and the story is nonsense. Also I'm not even sure what the point
was, I mean the trailer gives everything away. Even if you haven't seen the trailer everything is revealed within the first 20 minutes or so. There
is no mystery, no tension, no buildup or thrills. Then there's the problem that it's way to long for what little script there is so they spend a large
amount of time basically filming a concert with crowd shots. That's another problem entirely, half this movie seems like a vanity project for the directors daughter to pretend to be a popstar. Spoiler alert...she's terrible. The music sucks and her singing and acting is awful. As far woke it's all the usual stuff, other than the lead villain there are no other white male's other than some background characters. Pretty much all the leads are female and the few more prominent male's are black or Asian. There is a very short scene with a gay character hitting on another male. Way to much DEI casting in general with far more than realistic female police and FBI agents. The 80 year old 4ft female FBI profiler who is on site running the whole show is laughable and looks like she's about to fall over. I'm giving this one star for Hartnett and the only reason to waste time watching this.

???
Hey, did you know the cardinals in the recent conclave watched this movie to learn how to do a conclave? I'm serious, look it up.
Not my type of movie, but probably right for someone. Nice cinematography, natural dialogue, all-star casting and a religious tilt to every aspect.

Not worth it.
I didn't watch this, and I don't care if it's woke. The problem is this-
Disney is remaking their properties as a way to try and maintain their copyright. They let steamboat willy run out, and they're panicking trying not to let it happen again. I personally find this creatively bankrupt and disgusting in more ways than one.
Don't watch this. Don't watch the new lilo and stitch. Don't watch the new moana, or the new aladdin, or the upcoming new tangled. We already have animated versions that are better.
I genuinely can't imagine anyone these movies are made for other than the disney shareholders and executives.
