A fantastic watch, for a certain type of person!
It's been a long time since I saw a slasher I enjoyed. We're in an era of more psychological based horror, which I have nothing against, but sometimes you do want horror to be more of an escape than an analysis. This movie does that extremely well. It's not brainless, it has good roots and concepts, but it isn't trying to make a huge statement on society, and it does well with what it has!
I've never played Until Dawn, so I can't speak on the authenticity of the product, but as a movie it holds up.
I will say the gore can be a bit much. Stop reading here if you want to avoid spoilers!

As someone who works with butchering animals on occasion and has had to learn how everything is put together, it can be very easy for me to become disillusioned with horror effects. I call it 'The Meat Problem'- SFX crews have only seen the meat on store shelves, and forget that there's bones, ligaments, organs, and anything but blood and what looks like a full steak in there. This movie exceeded my expectations on that front! In the scene where a character's head is crushed, you get to see brain matter, eyes, skull, teeth, and skin in the pile!
I can't tell how much of that is practical and how much is CGI, but that's a good thing. I *shouldn't* be able to tell.
One point docked because of the names of the monsters. It's not only insensitive, it's just wrong? That's not what that is or does, and it would have been more interesting to see a creative, unique monster. Nothing was preventing them from doing that.

very very woke :3
the main character is canonically trans, read the manga and it says he was supposed to be born female but due to his super powers he turned himself to be a male. he was born female and an hour later he was a boy

Accurate, nothing woke
Good movie compared to the director's previous work, it portrays a real event so no forced diversity, it's based on real people.

Woke train wreck
All the men are portrayed as jerks.
They do expose some of the women’s hypocrisy.

Obvious Anti White, Anti Male.
This show has a great premise. Season 1 was good. But the writers clearly hate straight, white males. Everyone else in the alphabet mafia are wonderful though. They use this show to get revenge one episode at a time. Just watch it and you'll see.

This is not a movie it's propaganda. The villain is a rich white right winger and the hero is a p.o.s. lowlife thief who is really just a
victim of society. The usual rich people are bad and poor people are good and just victims of elite society. Most of the movie takes place
inside of the vehicle with constant conversations of a leftist political talking points. The entire premise of the movie is absurd. The ridiculous
amount of money it would cost to have a vehicle made and outfitted like that would seem to indicate the owner is incredibly wealth so then
why would he live in a place like that in the first place? It make no sense at all. At the beginning when he gets locked in he screams and
pounds on the windows at people passing by but never bothers rocking the car back and forth to indicate someone's inside. Also at the beginning when he finds out there are cameras and he has a crowbar he for some reason doesn't bother destroying them. The same issue when the owner starts blaring ear piercing music through the speakers. Never bothers ripping out and destroying the speakers. Just sits there and takes it. The SUV literally pulverizes a man against a wall with a huge explosive bloodspray yet 2 minutes late is driving around in the middle of the day without a drop of blood to be seen on the car. Terrible writing for a terrible movie.

Typical sequel. Almost as good.
The first Accountant is a high standard to live up to. That was the first time since Good Will that I actually liked Ben's acting. The Accountant 2 is one of those movies where most of the good stuff was in the trailers. I would've liked it a lot more if it wasn't for the too-forced situation. The big showdown was at a compound that was holding a dozen or so kidnapped children. They need to be rescued by The Accountant (and his bro). They were being guarded with enough fire power to coup a small nation. Why? I know better than to look for reality in a John Wick style action flick, but, why guard 12 kids with 30 commandos? EDIT... to address the woke elements others have reviewed, the female "commando" type is a result of some brain damage that caused her to be highly aggressive and capable of violence. I didn't put that in the same category as the "woman who beats up men" scenario that's so common in movies and TV. I didn't really see an agenda in it so it didn't register on my woke-meter. I can definitely see how it could, though. Decide for yourself.

Sticking with Season 7 for this review
It's been a while, but I think I remember enjoying Black Mirror in the past, but let's let the past be the past. This is now, and it's the future! Yep. Episode 3 is about as mind-blowing shit woke as you can get. Pure propaganda. Mixed race lesbians and all. To be honest, I try and stay away from these modern shows, but I do remember that I liked Black Mirror at some point, but really? It's science fiction. Strange stories from the beyond! Can't these fools be happy with that?

I went into fully expecting this to be woke and to not like it. Surprisingly I didn't really see anything woke. I mean yes the title character is the
usual tiny 100lb female but they don't have her overpowering large men in one on one combat. Everything she does is using vehicles or weapons.
Yes some of the things she is able to do are ridiculous but then so are the men. I don't see the Mary Sue complaint either as she is trained to survive as a child in a wasteland then spends her entire captivity doing nothing then trains with the truck driver and his squad for years. The movie just jumps past all this and its literally a scene transition and its
over. I remember only one other female in the warriors all the rest are men. This is about on par with Fury Road in quality. The acting is all decent with some excellent stunt work and action scenes marred by overuse of mediocre CGI and green screen. I also found the first hour or so to be worst as they really ramp up the weirdness factor and it just feels like a silly self parody. However the second half drops a lot of this and focuses more on the action scenes. The story is a little hard to follow at time with odd scene cuts and transitions that just happen out of nowhere especially in the first half. Everything is over the top in these movies and that's always been the point so lack of realism doesn't really bother me at this point. The writing has some problems and some things make no sense as they are happening. This also has the problem all prequels have in that you already know what happens
and which characters survive. If they are in Fury Road you already know they don't die so there is no real tension in any dangerous situations. All in all not a bad Mad Max movie and if you liked Fury Road you will probably feel about the same with this one.

Story Surpasses Woke
Nine years later, I have to admit this does read a little woke. Back in 2016, I really didn’t notice (as much).
There’s a lot of forced diversity on screen and super female empowerment, but it reads well within the story. And that’s what’s most important: the story. What woke movies completely miss today is writing, acting, and producing good stories. The production always gets pushed to the side in favor of the aGEnDa!!111
So yes, it’s woke. But I didn’t care. It wasn’t heavy handed. And the story read well. If more productions endeavored to create original content versus rehashing and tearing down classic content, websites like this wouldn’t be necessary.
