So much wasted potential. Mark Petrie has been race swapped from white in the books to black. The Dr Jimmy Cody a white male in the books has been race and gender swapped to a black female. There is no mention of race or gender throughout for either character however this is clearly a DEI decision therefore the higher woke rating. Both of these characters are also of course 'Hero' characters. The rest of the casting
is pretty good and the acting is decent. The Striker character is a bit of a miscast and in not at all like the book. There are 2 major problems
with this movie. The first being it's far too short. The book is very long and trying to fit this into a sub 2 hr movie is ridiculous. Everything is far too rushed with no time spent on any of the characters. While they included most of the large cast and scenes from the book no time is spent on any backstory
and none of the characters are fleshed out at all. For instance the Ralphie and Danny sequences takes place over 5 days in the book but here it's in the same night and within several minutes. Characters jump to conclusions and say things that make no sense because huge chunks of the book are left out that get the characters and the story to that point. Then for some reason they added extra scenes not in the book that serve no purpose. A few odd changes as well with the biggest being the ending. It is completely changed for the worse and unrecognizable from the book for no apparent reason. The second issue is while the
the cinematography is excellent and the movie is shot very creepy with some good tension the actual horror and action scenes are terrible. There is no scares and those scenes are just bland and sterile. It's almost like a different director shot the action/horror sequences.

Another franchise destroyed
Honestly, I’m not writing this review with much joy. It’s not even anger, just disappointment. It sucks to see big producers and directors not taking care of the universes they built. I’m not gonna go on forever listing pros and cons, but I’ll just say this: the first few episodes actually started off with some pretty interesting premises and fresh ideas, showing a real intention to expand the universe.
I watched it with some skepticism, and it kinda grew on me… [even though, right from the start, the crew should’ve been way smarter and more cautious than the ones in the original movie, those guys didn’t know what they were dealing with, but these ones do, and still don’t act like actual scientists].
Anyway, even though there were a few solid points they could’ve explored, they ended up trashing the whole franchise by introducing something that completely breaks the logic of the Alien universe. The original story was about a human being (Ripley) who, despite all her flaws, kept pushing forward, faced her fears, and risked her life to kill the alien that wiped out everyone she knew and loved aboard the ship. That’s gone here. Instead, we get a constant DEUS EX MACHINA, something that at first seems interesting, maybe even a cool antagonist setup, but turns into some kind of goddess-level system that can control anything running on electricity (and apparently stuff that isn’t, too!). Ridiculous.
Don’t watch it. It’s not worth your time. Yeah, it’s got some woke stuff in it, but honestly, that’s not even the worst part. The real problem is the total lack of respect for the franchise, and not even for the director or the original creator, because he’s the showrunner here. He’s been lost for a while now.
Cheers.
I’ll leave you with this:
New sci-fi stories will be born. Once they finish destroying all the classics, new ones will rise. That’s for sure.

Expected Woke-Fest
White male characters are all baffoons and/or evil, ususally both. Left wing activism is celebrated, while any form of government authority is deemed as fascist. Female characters are all superior to their male counterparts, even though the girl-bossing is not as blatant as in other movies.
The film has a slight air of subtlety, but generally it is a home run of pro-left-wing activism, pro-immigration, pro-left-wing-terrorism and anti-conservative propaganda.
The most frustrating thing is that PTA is a talented director and unlike many of his woke counterparts he has delivered an entertaining and aesthetically pleasing film which will be lauded as masterpiece.
If you look beyond the cinematography, the occassional humerous moments and the high standard acting, it is essentially woke Hollywood slop with the usual boring tropes.
Unfortunately liberals will be insufferable when this movie is inevitably showered with awards in the spring time of next year.

Hard to watch
The story of Aileen is a sad tragedy. Although she was rightfully accountable for her actions, she was a product of abuse, and neglect. She was executed by the State of Florida in 2002. This movie was released in 2003.
I watched this movie years ago. I remember the story being well-depicted and thought-provoking. Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci are amazing actors. Charlize took an Oscar for her performance. That was well-deserved. If you can tolerate the gritty, raw, portrayal of the subject matter, it's worth the watch.
The problem I have with the movie is, there really wasn't a need for the graphic lesbian scenes. I really don't remember it being so graphic. I tried to watch it again recently. I couldn't get past the scene where Theron and Ricci were making out in the ally behind the skating rink. Families were walking past with the parents trying to keep their kids from watching it.
There was no LGBT agenda. If anything, it portrayed it as disgusting filth. It was just too graphic.

First 10 minutes has a lesbian couple in a sex scene. One of the main group is gay and its the entire identity of the character in every scene. There is a token DEI black female character. There is a cross dressing villain. This is a blatant rip off of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The acting is terrible and there are no scares and little blood with poor FX.

Main character is a man-bun wearing gay couple. Bottom of the barrel film here. Acting, camera angles, dialog, sound, and story are all
amateur hour. This is NOT a horror movie, it's a bunch of film school rejects in a friends house with no money and an iPhone
trying to make a 'movie'. No scares, no blood, no horror.

Could it be this horrible? Meh.
After reading the other review for this film, I just absolutely need to see it for myself. Like a car crash. So I'm going to watch the first fifteen minutes and report back. Really? It just can't be such drivel. Who'd it appeal to? Are kids these days mindless DEI prototypes? I must inquire...
Ok. Now I start to get it. Coen and his lesbian wife. Look it up. I thought it was a joke. His lesbian wife, diesel dyke, Rosie O'Donnell impressionist and Coen write these films together apparently more for "self gratification" than anything else. That's my guess anyhow. There may be a trilogy of said lesbian films. Think, "Lord of the Rings" in romper stomper boots. The particular mystery of who this appeals to is solved.
And the answer is: No. and Yes. Honey Don't is brimming with lesbians and gays and bodily fluids and that's all in the first 15 minutes, but it knows what it is. This film doesn't hide the fact that it's created by a tired looking man married to a lesbian. There's no "hidden" agenda. In the case of Honey Don't, we need to be offended that it tries to recapture the early Cohn Brother's success, Pulp Fiction-esque filmmaking and it just doesn't work at all. I say, good for you to follow that dream and we love who we love and make films about it too.
Who does it appeal to? Doesn't matter. It appeals to Coen, his lifestyle and there's nothing subtle about it. We need to worry more about the subtle propaganda in advertising than we do about this film.

It doesn't get much more woke than this. Lesbian main characters first scene is in bed with another woman. Her second scene she is hit on by a white male and states 'I like girls' Got to really hammer home that woke point. The second male character to show up is gay and hires
her because his boyfriend is cheating on him. The villain appears to be a white male preacher using his church to deal drugs. This is within
the first 15 minutes and at this point I'm already done but decide to skim ahead another 10 minutes just to see another lesbian character introduced only to finger bang the first lesbian in a public bar then transition to a full lesbian sex scene. What a bunch of woke trash. There appears to be no real story, the dialog is laughable and not in a funny way, the lead female acting is awful and every line is delivered like she's reading it off a cue card with no emotional range whatsoever. There is no reason for this garbage to exist. How in the hell is this dumpster fire directed by one of the Coen Brothers.

Amazing Christian Conservative Education
Steven Universe is a proud arayn soldier who fights for hyberborea, agains the woke mob(the diamonds). Even though Rebeccca Sugar is very good at hiding her true allegiance to being a conservative christian, only true magacels would understand the deep christian idelology presented.

The Worst WOKE Drivel I have ever seen
Moonzy is the story of a transgender child who learns how to convert her friends to harmful transgender ideologies. Moonzy is a solo poly hijabi amputee who forms a poly relationship with the cast. Skip(Bicurious, 22 MtF) learns the meaning of critical race theory. Weebee is a extremly dangerous marxist antifa soldier, who favorite catchphrase is "Death to the Crackers". That damm ladybug bitch has had 3 abortions as well

Like the books, only different.
The books are great. This series is good. The individual seasons follow the stories of the books they're based on. Full season stories are, in my opinion, the only way to depict a good story. Detective shows that resolve mysteries in a single episode are hard to watch.
Perhaps there are some "woke" elements. One of the detectives working for the agency in the later series is a lesbian. Season 5, based on Troubled Blood, has the Agency working for a lesbian couple. You may have noticed my zero wokeness rating. That's because they were portrayed without any apparent agenda. I believe Rowling (Galbraith) to be above that nonsense. It's just simply an incidental part of the story. There's no scenes of affection depicted.
Grainger embodies the literary character of Robin as accurately as you'll ever see in a cinematic depiction.
Burk depicts Cormoran with some differences. Not better or worse, just different. The literary version is larger, more surly, has curly hair, and is missing the other leg. I don't know why that is.
If you haven't seen it, you have 6 (soon 7) seasons to enjoy on a good binge.

Detective film noir with a great actor... with a twist.
It's hard to review this one without spoilers. The major twist shows up around half way through the series. Farrell is a great actor. I think he's highly underrated. I consider Phone Booth the greatest showcase of acting talent I've ever seen. He nailed this part.
It begins with one of my favorite cinematic styles, narrated detective film noir. I was hooked 10 minutes in. Colin Farrell carried this series. His narration was perfection. The supporting cast wasn't impressive, but it worked. The story unfolded a little slowly, but there was a reason for that. Remember the twist I mentioned?
WOKENESS:
In one of the early episodes, there was a honey-trap that, instead of an attractive female getting intel from a middle-aged man, the female part was played by a homosexual. I almost dropped out at that point, but I waited to see if it was one-and-done. It was. My suspicion is that it needed to check that box to get produced. Cinematic entertainment is being held hostage by perverse agenda.
Season two shows up on IMDB and it's obvious that it was intended. The ending was just right. The story was tied up, but an issue that was alluded to throughout season one was put in the forefront at the end to launch season two. It's not the frustrating loose end that holds the story conclusion ransom. I'm looking forward to season two.
