Didn't like the tall-boy wolverine, but it kinda works in this universe.

This is a very difficult show to give a woke rating on. Apparently it's meant to be a satire of extreme woke NPR radio station workplace. So it features every single extremely woke trope and buzzword you can think of and every character is an extreme caricature of some degree of woke. The problem is they don't really go far enough in making fun of these people or showing the insanity. It just feels like you're watching a very woke show. It's not funny just very annoying and every character is a disgusting terrible loudmouth SJW. If your not going to make fun of them or actively show how stupid they are than is it really
a satire or just a woke show? These types of people exist and watching and listening to them go about their daily insanity isn't funny it's just irritating. I'm giving this a 2 for woke only because it's not actually meant to be woke but make fun of it, yet somehow still manages to feel like it's woke. If you can tolerate these types of people you may think it's funny, I see enough of these idiots in real life I don't need it in my spare time as well.

Woke

Yeah, this movie is woke.
There’ve already been some cringe Frankenstein versions out there, but this one goes overboard explaining why the creature feels the way it feels, and Mia Goth’s lines come off like straight-up activism

episode one opens in Quebec with 2 black police officers and of course the female one is in charge. Very small black population there but sure whatever. The lead female is an obese screeching harpy who I instantly hated. Based on a true story but actually has pretty
much nothing to do with the true story. Another modern show loaded down with unlikable characters. Every single character falls into 1 of 2 categories, either mean nasty assholes, or cowering pathetic idiots. Why must everything now have horrible characters. The attempts at comedy aren't funny and there are so many scenes that are just uncomfortable and cringe. The acting is fine and it's a well made miniseries. If you don't mind the bad characters you may like this better than I did.
The true story is probably interesting but this is just terrible and after the first episode I just didn't care about most of the characters and actively hated the rest. I had no desire to watch the rest of this. Other than the opening DEI placement I didn't really see anything else to
consider woke in the first episode.

Not Bad, It's Actually Very Good! BUT...

***WARNING!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!***

Remember how the original Mulan was so likeable because she was the typical 'underdog' that had to suffer and slowly learn until she became awesome despite her weaknesses?, and then on the live action she is just absolutely flawless from the beginning and she even has magical powers just because she is a woman? THAT'S exactly what Peach feels like: a god damn invincible character that doesn't even need power-ups to fight an army of thousands on her own. Even SHE is the one that experiences a launch star for the first time instead of Mario (WTF?). Even Queen Bee is girlbossing here, when in the game she is sweet AF. Feminist bullshit at its finest.

Now, to be fair, those feminist BS moments don't last that long, and as long as they are NOT happening:

- The movie has tons of fan service, and I mean TONS OF IT, especially for very old gamers (like me).
- The scenes with Mario & Luigi are super fun and enjoyable.
- The animation, colours, music and sound effects they used are exquisite, it looks and sounds AMAZING.
- It DOES have a damsel in distress.
- The action NEVER stops, and that's a very good thing. You NEVER get bored, it never feels like a too-long movie.
- Even though Peach feels invincible (facepalm), she still uses some of her Smash Bros. moves, like the hip attack, which is a very nice feminine touch.
- Speaking of Peach, females actually look like women, boobs and everything (which is more than I can say about that Hoppers crap), as they should look, without being oversexualized for kids at all.
- There are no LGBTQ characters except for Birdo, who is on screen for about 13 seconds and acts perfectly normal, who cares?
- No visual DEI that I can recall or any BS like that.
- Mario, Luigi, and Bowser (all men) openly express several times that they are attracted to women, as it should be.
- Whenever there are kisses on the cheek between males, or a slight acting-gay moment, it's 100 % clear that it is pure old-school comedy and NOTHING ELSE (Looney Tunes style).
- One of the main plot points is that people don't change, which is amazing, considering that woke propaganda is often 'be whatever you want to be', even if it makes no sense or is the complete opposite of what you actually are.
- The movie contains a 'Do a barrel roll!' moment, which on its own is just... absolutely... AWESOME.

I enjoyed it a lot at the age of 43. I've watched it twice, and it felt even better the second time since I was watching it with with a friend who also experienced the NES era. I'm planning to watch it again at least 3 more times. I could NEVER call this a kids' movie, though, it totally hits you with nostalgia, making you (a grown up) feel like a kid again.

Demon Slayer always delivers

No woke here. Just some fun demon slaying. If you've seen the series you already know.

Mario Bros Galaxy

I've seen a few reviews and reactions for this film saying things like "it's really woke. The princess takes all the screen time. The bros are barely in it." These are lies. Even another popular woke film review site (that makes you pay for the full reviews) echoes these claims but they are false. This film has zero woke or cringe elements. It's just fun and entertaining and a good story that explores Peaches' background. Yes the other princess has powers and has a sequence where she fights but she becomes the captive and we barely see her for the entire film. Peach has a really cool battle sequence. The bros and Yoshi are the 3 main characters as far as screen time goes. The kids loved it and I love that I don't have to sensor these Mario movies.

A must watch, no excuses

It's an absolute must-see if you want a killer show that feels like Breaking Bad quality with all the stuff you'd expect from a story like this.

100% recommended!

It's not bad enough we have an endless parade of unnecessary reboots of perfectly good old shows but now we have a show about an unnecessary reboot of a fake old show. Seriously? No surprise this was canned after only 1 season. I watched 2 episodes of this crap. How do you have this many capable, funny actors and churn out something so painfully cringe and unfunny. 2 episodes and not one single laugh, although there was a lot of eye rolling. Yet another show
populated by annoying unlikable characters. All the usual woke is present, mixed race couples, a lot of DEI overrepresentation, gay background or secondary characters. The body positive SJW new young female writer that is clever, smart and knows what she's doing. The rich old white male showrunner who's clueless out of touch and just an all around douche. Don't bother, it's not worth wasting time on.

This one was actually pretty fun

Funny from start to finish. It’s got that 80s movie aesthetic but set in the present day, using all the current tech stuff. This comedy just follows a couple of college students trying to ride out whatever they took.

On the woke side of things, it checks the diversity box. For example: one of the “bullies” looks like Bad Bunny, and honestly, in real life I’d probably be the one bullying him just for that. So it’s got that forced “role reversal” thing that’s annoying but doesn’t ruin the movie.

Overall, it’s a really good way to kill some time.

A Missed Opportunity

Another movie with a kinda interesting idea and a couple of actors who could’ve had some solid chemistry (I’m obviously talking about Liam Neeson and Joe Keery) completely ruined by a heavy overdose of in your face woke stuff. You can feel it the second the co-star shows up, they try really hard to make her look like the hero, but she can’t overshadow Joe Keery’s charisma, even though the movie clearly tries to push his character into the background.

I’m not gonna waste more time describing it in detail. It’s a low-budget popcorn flick that could’ve been a lot better if it wasn’t for the forced woke agenda. It’s a shame cause the premise is decent for killing time, but the execution not.
