Didn't watch past that

What a surprisingly funny little movie. While it does take place around Christmas I would not call this a Christmas movie. Good acting and the jokes mostly land. There are a few cringe comedy moments and sometimes the Russ character can be a bit too over emotional but I think that's more the type of movie than a woke element. It gets a little sappy and corny in a couple of places but nothing too bad. I do think you need to be a dog person to really get all the jokes out of this movie, or at lease an animal person in general. The comedy is mostly clean and family friendly with a few little innuendo jokes that will most likely go over little kids heads. If you have watched any rom-coms at all then the story is the usual by the numbers cliché and you know what's going to happen anyway but that's kind of the point of these right? The only thing that might be considered woke is that her friend is black, his friend/co worker is black and their vet is black, this seems unlikely however it is set in Boston which has a higher than average black population. There's also the fact that none of their acting is bad and the characters didn't seem forced and race is never brought up or made an issue. I just can't see giving it a woke point over that.

Fun different spin on classic sci-fi!

Pretty decent movie! Honestly, I think I may have seen it when it came out in 2018 because when I was watching it tonight, it was vaguely familiar. It's a solid 5.5/10 and slightly forgettable, so that tracks. If you're looking for a unique spin on the sci-fi classics with no woke nonsense, this one will do it for you. On Netflix as of 1/10/26.

Decent watch

Kinda boring but nothing significantly woke

Great Film

One of the all time great movies. Made before Hollywood really took up lecturing to the audience.

Good natured show, but ends up being Super Woke.

The first season is full of half-hour comedies that stress being kind, and doing the right things. So far, so good.

The second season becomes a bloated hour long comedy-drama, -- and then by the third season, it is full on Woke moralizing. The attack on the Nigerian restaurant is the kind of violence that the political Left engages in on rare occasion, but that never really comes from the political Right, except of course in Hollywood stories.

First Episode Was Very Woke

I stopped after the first episode because it was clear that conservative politicians and their followers were portrayed as evil fascists. And the "kidnapping" was yet another liberal wet dream invented out of whole cloth. So sick of that.

I enjoyed the Part Two movie much more.

I am not big on Broadway musicals, and it has been over a year since I saw this movie, so I could be wrong, but I don't remember it being Super Woke.

The idea is that the witch was a nice person to begin with, and other characters were the truly bad people. If the bad characters were supposed to be American conservatives, then it was woke I suppose, but I didn't remember that being the case.

This movie is a total yawn unless you like Broadway-style song and dance. But the Part Two film, released in 2025, was more interesting and worth seeing.

This is a show by one of the best comedians on the planet, and every time I watch it, it makes me laugh all over again.

One of the best drama films of the 21st century

Easily deserved an Oscar and could’ve easily swept best picture at any of those fancy award shows that basically just pat the Hollywood star-system on the back.

It never got any simply because it did not belong to a mainstream-aligned studio and because behind the entire production and creation of this masterpiece is one of the actors, directors, and producers who was among the first to call out Hollywood’s Machiavellian way of manipulating things -and the first to openly stand up to the entire progressive left of Hollywood. MEL GIBSON, who to this day keeps surprising us with excellent work like this.

A tough to watch, but outstanding in quality.

The question is: how do you sum up the content of 10 seasons in a single comment?
Well, here we go!

Okay, first things first, I’m going to answer the core question of this site before anything else:
Is ADVENTURE TIME, a show aimed at kids, woke or not?

YES. ABSOLUTELY. IT’S SUPER WOKE.
It has every single element you’d expect from a biased, ill-intentioned show that deliberately weaponizes its narrative structure to push a political message. It checks all the boxes for diversity, equity, and forced egalitarianism.

Now then:
Is the show good quality? Well, that’s where the problem is. Yes and no. Why?

Because it was good at first, and then they started shoveling in tons of political propaganda.

To explain it in a simple way, I’ll quote a comment I read somewhere online:

“What started as fictional, otherworldly adventure got hijacked by a parasite—this world’s propaganda worming into a kids’ show. Wasn’t it more fun and heartfelt when it stayed pure, free from politics?”

The question left unanswered by the author (because the site was taken down by “the writer,” according to WordPress) we’ll never know for sure. But we can assume that if the original creator of Adventure Time stepped away from running his own creation starting around season 5, then control was handed over to people far more interested in moralizing and pushing a message than in actually entertaining.

I’m not saying the creator isn’t somewhat liberal or anything like that, but as far as the show itself goes, there was no initial intention to “educate” kids—just to entertain them.

The thing is, this is a common trait of studios tied to networks like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, and unfortunately, due to exclusivity contracts, we’ll probably never know the full story.

What I can say is this: if for any reason one of your kids gets curious about this show, recommend an anime instead, buy them a new toy, or get them a video game. Anything is better than this mishmash of political propaganda that was once genuinely entertaining.

Much like the first movie there is so much wasted potential here. The first half started out pretty good with decent writing and I thought
it might be an improvement and the director is getting better. Unfortunately the second half throws it out the window and takes a nosedive. The story is basic and the acting is all over the place, some of it is pretty good while others are embarrassingly bad. I don't really know if
I would call it woke or not, there is a lot of diversity casting but it all sort of makes sense within the location and story. The exception might
be the female poc detective casting and her bad acting. The action scenes are decent if uninspired and nothing you haven't seen before. The villain is one of the weakest most ineffectual threats you will see in an action movie and the writing in the second half in particular is abysmal. Spoilers follow.....The dialog and interaction at the hospital is laughably bad and this is another major hospital with no other staff or security other than the 3 characters in the story. There is absolutely zero reason or point in killing the nurse, it makes no sense. If you know the Mexican cartel is after you do you go to the shadiest back alley Mexican restaurant you can find for a meeting? The slow flashbacks of him and his wife talking to each other serves no purpose other
than to pad out the already short runtime and slow the movie down to a crawl. There is an accurate representation of the typical lying propaganda media calling him a white supremacist racist who's randomly killing minorities and they conveniently have the actual camera footage shot that was used in the actual movie of a truck exploding. Couldn't even be bothered to shoot a separate angle and call it cell phone footage. Let's talk about the ridiculous villain who's
supposed to be this cartel crime boss that everyone is afraid of and so terrifying. Except he's not, at all. He spends the entire movie sitting in a dark room in front of a wall of computer screens without a shirt on threatening people on cell phones with a cheap Walmart voice changer and they all do whatever he says and are scared of him. Let's forget that he never actually follows through on any of his threats, or really does anything for that matter. My 4lb Chihuahua is more threatening
than this clown. He finally crawls out of his parents basement at the end of the movie and perfectly snipes a handgun on the ground spinning it into a drain grate in 1 shot but than can't hit 2 people out in the open with over a dozen rounds. He then just blind fires like an idiot into a house while they hide behind a cheap Chinese dresser that rifle could of shredded through like confetti. He than comes bumbling into the house only to get instantly disarmed by a snow globe (that hurts just writing that sentence) and then dispatched without a fight. This is another one of those movies you watch only if your bored or as background noise. Like the first one it's somewhat watchable I guess as I made it all the way through but just barely.
