cool action runer with alot and i mean ALOT of woke stuff on it

woke elements:
DEI: mostly only blacks maybe 2 gays
FUCKIN COMMUNISM: yes it its a part of the movie and a big one considering that the last scenes are about a act of revolution against the rich of the working class.

All out of gum

Much as I am tempted, I can't bring myself to rate this one a 5.
Carpenter is the king of 80s B-movies (except maybe for Buckaroo Banzai), They Live is a cult classic, but it definitely suffers from pacing issues. Although they are idiosyncratic to the 80s. As is utter disregard for trigger discipline. And for reloading.

Rowdy Roddy Piper is the original wrestler-turned-actor (Hogan and Andre never turned), and does a decent job delivering the lines. So does David.

The movie itself is a weird mix of action, sci-fi, thriller (so, usual Carpenter fare) and social commentary. Speaking of, the anti-consumerism message is still very much valid, and does not come across as woke to me. I mean, corpocracy is as far from free market as can be; it's basically Mussolini's modern fascism barely rebranded.
The script does take a jab at 'free enterprise', though.

Quite possibly a must-see for those who haven't, but it mostly made me want to rewatch Escape From NY (soon to be a documentary). And The Thing. Russell is simply better than Piper.

Hallmark Christmas Love Story in Paris

Every now and then I dig a good Rom Com and I've been caught searching for, "most cringy Rom Coms in the universe" too. They're so sappy and predictable like, "The Kissing Booth" (Parts 1, 2 and 3) or "The Other Zoey" and all these Christmas films. Champagne Problems starts out as a Hallmark Channel movie and, lucky for us, it quickly morphs into a complete full Rom Com with and the bells, whistles and minor contention that goes with it.

If you dislike the predictability, can’t stomach the sappy storyline; if unrealistic happiness and romance makes you want to barf, this film is not for you. I get it. No need to explain it to me, I know Rom Coms are unhealthy.

I wanted to find “Sydney Price” a corporate driven no-nonsense woke woman power character, but she just turns out to be your typical Rom Com lady getting bonked on the head by love when she’s not looking. And there is an 80’s style gay man in the film, but I can’t say they have an agenda with him. I will add to the score in case that offends you.

The little dog was awesome.

Exceptional production

I'm a fan of Walter Tevis. He wrote six novels: The Hustler, The Color of Money, The Queen's Gambit, The Man who Fell to Earth, The Mockingbird and Steps of the Sun. As you probably noticed, 4 out of six have been produced as movies or mini-series.
This movie is his first film adaptation. The history behind making the movie is a story in itself. The result was a blockbuster that received 2 Oscars and was nominated for 7 more. Scott refused his nomination. He later refused an actual Oscar for Patton. He doesn't like his art to be competitive.
This movie is a love story centered around the pool playing culture. The pool action was authentic. You don't need to be familiar with pool to enjoy this movie. It's intense and engaging. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Another Girl Boss?

Elizabeth moves through the 1800s with the attitude of a 3rd-wave feminist accidentally teleported from 2025. Her constant strong-willed defiance toward Count Frankenstein isn’t period-authentic—it's a modern template wearing a costume. She feels less like a Victorian woman and more like a time-displaced empowerment trope, breaking the story’s believability. Instead of Victor who could have given her a life of luxury, or his brother who gave her his heart, like a spoiled brat, she chose the monster, a choice that would have destroyed her.

Wowie. 12M 18S.

12 Minutes, 18 Seconds. That's how long it took me to get physically ill and turn this little gem of a movie right off. I get it. We love who we love says Jerry Springer. And I don't need to see teenage boys making out. I double checked all around and didn't find any mention of the overall gay theme of the movie. Isn't the main character gay? I'm awful sure I witnessed a hot love daydream with him and another boy. Maybe it's just a phase and once he gets super powers, the narrative arc changes. Departing Seniors GTFO.

Why are so many movies nowadays based around unlikable characters. The idea here is a socially awkward married man meets his new neighbor who for some reason decides he wants to be friends and invites him into his life. Paul Rudd is great and most of the acting is fine, that's not really the problem. There is a genre for the awkward outcast comedy and when done it can be hilarious. But there is a line that goes to far and this movie steps over it and then takes off running. Robinsons portrayal isn't just awkward it's off-putting and borderline mental disorder. I can't imagine anyone wanting to be around someone like this. He has no filter and just blurts out anything. Something like getting his clothes dirty or wet will result in him screaming profanities and acting like something major just happened. He has some weird creepy daydreams about his neighbor that are not funny but disturbing. He gets invited to his neighbors house to meet and hang out with his friends. They set up a little fun light boxing match and he full on sucker punches and almost knocks him out, then starts acting like a toddler putting a bar of soap in his mouth and 'I'm sorry, I was a bad boy" over and over dancing around. It's disturbing and I had enough at this point and stopped at 30 minutes. Rudd's character seems pretty normal and it is not believable in the least that he would want this guy around. This feels like one of those guys that eventually snaps and goes on a rampage. There was nothing woke to report when I stopped it but I just couldn't take it anymore.

You won't find anything really new story wise here. Basically an organization stages 'games' at a location by trapping random people inside while they are hunted by 4 people for points while it's streamed and bets placed. The acting is decent enough for this type of movie and there are cameo's galore for horror fans. The blood and gore FX are extreme, over the top and very well done. There's some very brutal graphic stuff here not for the squeamish. It takes a bit to really get going but by the 30 minute mark it really starts to go nuts. There are unfortunately some small writing problems like
characters doing stupid things or not seeing or hearing things they realistically should of. For example they cut off all communications include internet service except their own private network. However an 11 yr old goes on his laptop and searches for network then just simply connects to it as if it's a completely unsecured network. Then he just somehow has instant access to their entire system. They are locked inside a hotel with the front doors being glass and not one person tries to break the doors or a window to escape. There's also the horror staple of being constantly chased and people trying to kill you and not once
does anyone bother to arm themselves with all the possible weapons laying around the hotel. The woke score is a little difficult. There is a group of 3 hotel guests that appear to be there drinking and partying. One of them appears to be obviously gay and flamboyant and the 2 females are seen making out. Nothing is ever said about them being lesbian and it could possibly be just drunk partying too much. Also the seemingly gay character is also never shown doing anything or
saying anything to imply that he is actually gay. I decided not to give anything woke for this one as a result. For me this is probably a 3.5 but I don't think it's worth a 4 so I kept it at 3.

Good movie in a sea of mediocre hollywood!

(No Spoilers)
This movie surprised me! I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's artistic (which is par for the course for a Del Toro movie) and entertaining. Starts out a little slow due to how they chose to tell the story, but it's definitely worth watching all the way through. It's a great twist on a modern classic. It basically has no woke nonsense. 7.5/10!

This is a British comedy/horror miniseries with 8 episodes. The first thing I noticed in Ep 1 was some general DEI overrepresentation including the main character being a POC. She is an unlikable terrible person so not off to a good start. The acting is ok and the setup isn't too bad. Not much for comedy though and pretty light on the horror but there's promise. Ep 2 really ramps up the DEI casting. There is an openly racist Indian character who makes a random comment about while babies and ethnic mothers than randomly mentions a white family is racist for no real reason and no context. Starting to notice a distinct lack of white casting and any male characters in general. Ep 3 lesbian couple is introduced including some lesbian kissing. DEI is now at max capacity. There are virtually no white people or men. Any you see are background characters. We are just giving up with the horror aspect and going into more preachy motherhood is hard and nobody but mothers understand. No mention of fathers or men. Story wise it's pretty much at a standstill. There's no real story progression from the first episode and this is mostly pointless. Ep 4 Lesbian characters are now some of the main characters and still max DEI with little story progression. We are reminded they are lesbians at every opportunity. At this point I'm bored about to give up but decided to give it one more episode. Ep 6 is an origin story for one of the main characters. She is revealed to be lesbian and involved with a married woman behind her husbands back. The lesbian make out sex scene is were I shut it down. This is not comedy or horror, it's just preachy woke feminist garbage. There is only 8 30 minute episodes and by ep 4 there is almost no story advancement since ep 1. The idea is interesting enough but they decided to go full extreme woke agenda instead of actually trying to tell a good story. It's possible the last three and a half episodes brought it all together to make sense but at this point I don't care anymore. The only reason I'm giving this a 1 instead of 0 is because there is an actual interesting story buried underneath the mound of garbage that's presented instead. Unless you are an extreme woke feminist there is no reason to watch this trash.

Some more minor DEI casting. This one seems to go out of it's way to force more female casting in the movie. There is a homeland security female officer, 2 out of 3 of the CIA security detail is female. This takes place directly after the first one and the terrorist from that movie is back this time with his pregnant wife as well. The villains here are said to be professional independent military contractors and naturally they have their very own girlboss leader. The acting here might actually be worse than the last one. Knapp in particular is horribly miscast with really bad acting and her nails on chalkboard cartoonish voice makes it impossible to take her seriously. It's her voice and not her fault but it's bad casting nonetheless. The writing is maybe a bit better here with the action scenes looking much better for the most part but there are still some problems. The hand to hand combat in particular varies greatly with some scenes looking well done and convincing while others almost look like practice takes. The aforementioned 'professionals' can't seem to hit targets right in front of them half the time. This appears to take place in a large airport yet there doesn't seem to be any civilians to be found. The worst part is probably still the acting, the gunshot would in
the van early on is comically hilarious. Background characters get shot and flail their arms about overacting like something you would see from 10 year old's pretending to get shot. If you made through the first one it's an ok time killer and probably a step up from that one but still can't bring myself to give it a higher rating.

While not really woke other than maybe some DEI casting choices. For a very small budget indie film this actually looks decent. The acting however ranges from mediocre to pretty bad. There are a lot of inaccuracies and unrealistic scenarios for the military setting. There's nothing new story wise basically a military installation under attack and trying to survive. The gimmick is the entire movie is made to look like it's done in one single take with no cuts. At this point there are a lot of these 'one take' movies and it's been done to much better effect than here. This wouldn't have been to bad other than some really lazy writing that could of been easily fixed. There is one covered truck the shows up and runs the gates with all the enemy combatants in it. However the number of enemies that are shown throughout the movie are impossible to have come out of that single truck. It appears to be a literal army of at least 100 if not more, it's ridiculous. Why not just have a second truck? If budget doesn't allow than use the same truck as a secondary with strategic camera angles to never show them both on screen at once.
They are constantly taking cover behind empty wood crates and other cover that just simply won't stop a rifle round. They also choose cover to get behind but then just leave their heads sticking out over the top. Adkins turns into a one man army single handedly killing pretty much everyone. The scenes of him sneaking around the base full of enemies constantly in clear lines of sight yet nobody ever sees him. This might be worth a watch for action movie fans if you have nothing else but
it's mediocre at best.
