My favorite animated movie

Great story. Great voice acting, especially Chris Sanders. I understand this was the last film style movie by Disney using the camera system Walt invented. They're all rendered CGI after this one.

Worth the watch. Not as good as the original.

It's not an exact re-telling of the original. That's good. If it was, why bother? There are a few differences, such as a live-action version of Pleakley and Jumba blending in. The porthole gun was a great gag. It's similar to Dr. Strange's ring. Most of the best new stuff was spoiled in the trailers, such as the showdown with the soda nozzle at the bar. The CIA agent working for CPS was better explained in this version. That part always bugged me in the animated. The big issue that the reviewers pointed out was the change in Nani. Her character was transformed from a sister who would do anything to keep Lilo to a self-centered, career oriented woman who would leave Lilo behind to pursue her career. It's true that the original Nani was a waitress who couldn't keep a job, while the new Nani is a genius full-ride, scholarship recipient. That's about the most woke thing about this version. It's actually a 0.5 rounded up to a 1, in my opinion. The part about Nani willingly abandoning Lilo to CPS isn't accurate. They are both orphans. Nani just happens to be a legal adult. The neighbor lady plays a big part in their lives. Remember the porthole gun? Going off to college when you have one means the campus is in the next room. The original Lilo and Stitch is my favorite animated movie. I understand it's also the last Disney movie that isn't rendered CGI. It still used the camera system Walt invented. That's a high standard for a remake. Chris Sanders deserves a couple of Oscars for his work on this story alone. Without him behind Stitch, this would've been a flop. The casting and acting was good. The CGI was amazing. It's worth the watch.

Not watching Past Episode 3

Dexter’s son Harrison goes back to his female friends house to catch up on drag race and in 2 episodes drag race is on, how many red blooded straight men go to watch drag race with a female they are interested in! Also the usual illegal migrants are good piffle.

80s adventure at its best

As another commenter noted, this movie is painful on the ears.

Capshaw's jobs are 1/ being a smokeshow and 2/ screaming at the top of her (expansive) lungs.
She's impressively good at both. Also, she actually can act, even though she's never made much of a career of it. I guess she was mostly a SAHM, no reproach from me.

Seth is vastly underused, Quan was just a kid at the time and Puri takes a detour from his prolific Indian career to play an over-the-top but tone-perfect villain.

My youngest was quite a bit afraid during the movie. Guess Gen X kids were built tougher.

Indy 3 (the final movie) was probably superior, but this one is great fun.

All the usual feminist topes. Nasty unlikable girl-bosses. Females all in positions of power and better than men. Small females overpowering much larger men. DEI overrepresentation. I could only make it to about the 30 min mark though so the woke may get worse. The acting and dialog is terrible. The action scenes are badly shot. Its obvious the entire thing was shot on an empty stage with bad greenscreen. Everything looks so washed out and colorless, almost to the point of black and white. The VFX in general are all pretty bad.

Completely Avoid

Every white male character is portrayed as either evil, burned out, a loser or incompetent.

Every female character is portrayed as competent, heroic, moral and strong.

Every non-white character is portrayed as competent, good and capable, or a victim of evil white men.

The show literally has white English nationalists kidnap and attack a Muslim boy. It’s the OPPOSITE of what is happening on our streets and our nation in England.

It portrays the white conservative male politician as some sort of new Hitler we should all hate because he dares say we shouldn’t have mass immigration.

It portrays white ex-servicemen as evil terrorists.

In the first episode it portrays British nationalism as fascistic and evil including cartoonish, over the top representations of white right wing politics.

Conclusion: avoid this anti-white, anti-male, anti-English show in every way.

Getting long in the tooth

It's an entertaining movie, reusing the same character, same jokes, same visuals, and basically the same plot.
But all that is getting a bit tired and cliched. It's lost its spark.

Depp, Rush and Bardem are beyond reproach, as expected of such experienced actors. Same for the supporting cast, including Sir Paul (McCartney).
Thwaites and Scodelario are decent enough; they're young actors with a rather bland script, and neither has the presence to shine through that.

Scodelario's character get that woke point, though. Not girlboss, but unsufferable know-it-all, despite getting humbled (without learning humility) throughout the movie.

The male (and thus dumb) characters work because they're caricatures, and manage to succeed despite their flaws. The female "lead" is the opposite: she's incredibly realistic (I've worked with her too many times), and manages to need rescuing despite all of her much-professed-but-never-witnessed qualities. Basically, an extension of the movie's McGuffin, allowing the plot to move on to the next scene.

Still, the movie is somewhat entertaining, mostly due to Depp's involvement, thus highlighting how incredibly stupid Disney's corpos were to antagonize him over that whole false accusation shenanigan. Him and his fans. Threw the golden goose out with the bathwater they bought on OF. Morons. Well, corpos, same thing.

Nothing really woke. This started out great with good acting and an interesting story line with good writing. As it kept going the mystery
was good enough to keep you watching. The weakest part is the main character is just soo unlikable. He's such a cowardly spineless person
it really gets frustrating. He just sits there and shakes and looks pathetic while making the dumbest choices. Then the final 30 minutes when everything gets revealed it just goes of into ridiculous implausible territory
and all falls apart.

Men, especially Nick is WAY TOO MUCH CLUMSY.
Brainrot comedy.
And the unnecessary lgbt+ flag beside the door of the jazz audition club.

Homo/lesbian or just sisters?

Since, the relationship between Eiko and the other woman/girl (who was too "friendly/close") is not mentioned, so I will just think that they're sisters. And the male hatred is quite visible, also mentioned by "Kokoro" who was created by a man.
Otherwise, it's just a lower than mid-level.

People think it’s woke because it’s not white

It is NOT woke. The diversity of the group reflects how random the average DnD party is. Of course the barbarian is a female Mexican. Because your Mexican buddy made his character a female. Of course the leader of the group is a handsome bard with no combat skills. That’s how you play the game. He maxed out his charisma and intelligence but not his strength etc. He’s a bard. The black wizard isn’t automatically good at everything like it would be if it were woke. The “super good guy” good at everything black guy paladin is played for laughs.
This is a great adventure romp that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is fun for the whole family. The bad guy is a con artist politician that gives the people bread and circuses. It’s basically a libertarian folk tale.

Low Quality Writing

Low quality writing. Super contrived. A few mildly woke moments, but it seems the conservative dialogue is all contrived to get a particular audience.
