Pha-Q woke's Reviews
Early on in the movie Barry's daughter says her wife left her. It seems to be a short 1 minute scene pointless virtue signal and I thought
ok well only a 1 woke score. The movie went on in an amusing little comedy with some wonderful Ireland scenery. It's silly fun and nothing
really laugh out loud but it was entertaining enough with good performances from the 2 leads. Then at about the 1 hour mark a ridiculous 5ft obese female police officer shows up. Again a very short scene and nothing too bad. Ok we have about 10 minutes of film left and I'm thinking ok 1 woke and maybe a 3 score. Worth a one time watch and it's humorous enough. Then out of nowhere Barry's lesbian daughter comes to Ireland and we get a ridiculous slow motion gazing instant love scene with Ciaran's ex-wife who by the way has never been mentioned to be a lesbian! This goes straight into a finale lesbian wedding presided over by aforementioned obese female officer! Are you kidding me!!?? WTF did I just waste 100 minutes of my time on only to be woke slapped in the last 10 minutes. Don't bother and if you must turn it off early to avoid the agenda. I'm giving it a much higher score because of tacked on B.S.

The only woke really is the opening scene showing a black female with her black daughter talking about her deceased husband who is shown
in a photo to be a white male. Pushing the mixed race quota again. It's a small scene but it needs to be pointed out. I went in to this hoping for a shlocky low budget entertaining action horror movie. I got everything but the entertaining part. The acting is all over the place but not terrible and the story is bare bones with some sketchy writing but that's kind of to be expected for this type of movie. Like one of the previous reviews said it really felt like someone ripped off the Purge movies but with werewolves. How is is it everyone knew this would happen again and had an entire year to get ready for it yet seemingly everyone was so horribly prepared. The practical FX are decent and the CG is pretty low end. I just found it all so boring and that's not what you want for this type of movie. There werewolves weren't very effective, they look exactly like what they are, actors in cumbersome bulky suits. They are all so slow and awkward looking it just killed any kind of fun the movie could of had.

Nothing really too woke other than the now common in everything mixed race couple. The acting is ok but Davidson just isn't that good
of an actor. The FX are great, the writing is mostly good though there are a few instances of WTF was that. The first half hour or so is very slow and boring and I was tempted to give up but it does pick up considerably and I finished to the end. I kept feeling like I've seen
this premise before but I'm not sure. Lots of gore and body horror but there is a little too much random only for shock value scenes. There are
no real scares to be found but it is a fairly solid movie worth a one time watch. The only other annoying thing is throughout the entire film there
are background tv's with the weather on talking about a major hurricane going up the coast and how unusual it is and blaming it on climate change. It serves no purpose to the movie, other than 1 short scene at the end where it's crazy storming for about 30 seconds then it's completely calm again. It's very odd and out of place not to mention unrealistic and only seems to exist to push the climate change hoax. While that doesn't count toward the woke score it is a political agenda.

Far far too much black representation for a show set in Dublin with 1.5-2 percent black population. Outside that the acting is all over
the place some pretty good but a few are awful. I only made it through the first episode but by the end of it I had no interest in continuing.
This is the usual family involved in some sort of crime business fighting within themselves as well as other crime families. All the clichés are present with nothing original. It's very slow and plodding. The biggest thing for me was the terrible camera work. Weird angles and camera framing mixed with extreme close ups on faces with blurred backgrounds. The scenes with the family gathering inside the house feels like a member of the crew was just walking around with their cell phone taking video and the director said screw it we'll just use that footage. It's possible it gets better but with the first episode that boring and unengaging it's a hard sell to keep going.

Nothing woke. This is labled as action comedy but I would say it's just comedy. I didn't find the comedy funny at all. How is this guy trained
as a hitman since childhood yet this much of a bumbling fool. He fakes his death to escape so he can fulfill his dream of being a webtoon artist? Really, that's the story. The comedy is of the silly slapstick over the top kind complete with corny sound effects. It's all just to eye rolling and annoying to be actually funny.

The old bait and switch. The 1st episode is incredibly well done with solid writing and lots of action. Then it gets worse with every following
episode. This is not an action spy show as advertised, it's a slow plodding drama. This is based on a single book, not a series of books and it should of been a tight fast moving action thriller, but no, they have to have a series so tons of boring pointless drama with bad writing. We have the usual DEI overrepresentation. While the first couple of episodes start well by the 4th episode all the men are getting pushed aside and dumbed down to focus on the much smarter female characters. The Zoe character is nonsense and shouldn't exist. First it's ridiculous that he's managed to stay hidden for 30 years than gets discovered and goes on the run only to stop and start a relationship with the first woman he meets and than goes out on a date in public, only to get stopped
and caught on bodycam at a DUI checkpoint. He then decides to drag her along with him on the run. Really? She is shown to be a complete mess of a person who can't even keep her finances straight and 2 episodes later is a brilliant blackmailer who wants revenge on all men because her husband left her. The writing gets worse with
every episode as well with long drawn out melodramatic speeches that serve no purpose other than to fill up runtime. There's also the problem that one minute he's hobbling around out of breath and groaning and the next this 73 yr old is physically taking out much younger highly trained agents in hand to hand combat. He kills everyone
that comes after him yet for no reason leaves the black assassin alive. I made it through episode 4 of season 1 and everything I've seen says season 2 gets much worse with the ridiculous feminist woke nonsense.

Woke consists of a the gay neighbor who shows his wedding video with a gay kiss. There's also a unnecessary derogatory statement by a white female character no less about the male lead being a 35 year old white male who thinks he's going to be a rock star. The acting is decent and the writing and story are passable though pretty basic and you can see the ending coming very early on so there are really no surprises. The FX are overall good and if you like body horror you might like this more than me. A few too many jump scares in my opinion but there are some creepy and disturbing scenes. The female character could of been written better. She is pretty unlikable and treats her boyfriend like garbage, blames him for everything and openly flirts with the neighbor before finding out he's gay. Watchable but nothing great.

This one is a little hard to rate on the woke scale. The John wick movies by this time are so over the top unrealistic with him basically
being super human it's ridiculous. There is an argument to made that this is just an attempt to make a female version of John Wick so it
is by definition woke. I see this as a mix of bad writing and woke together. John Wick at the time of the first movie is ready to retire and
has been at this for a very long time. He has built a reputation through decades of experience and life lessons to get to be the machine that he
is. Here however she goes through a training montage gets sent on her very first mission ever and easily defeats 5 assailants at the same time, in
a dress and heals on ice. She gets beaten and kicked but is never injured or even bloody and just gets up like nothing happened and beats them all down. Then we jump 2 months later where she appears to have taken on and killed dozens of men in a basic warzone, yet she is again uninjured with no bruises or any visible blood and perfect made up hair and clothes without breaking a sweat. This trend continues throughout the movie, every fight her opponents are bloodied
and bruised but she always looks perfect never breaking a sweat and not a hair out of place. She physically takes on and defeats much larger men but the minute her opponent is a woman she has a much harder time beating them. She is an immediate super powered invincible Mary Sue who appears to be equal in skill and ability to John Wick an the end of his career. Then there is the argument that they picked 5'6" actress who is rail thin with no muscle definition. Some of this can be written off as bad writing as John Wick 4 has plenty of invincible stupid writing for that one as well but I think there is definitely some woke at work here. Then there is the white male Pine character with the black daughter. The acting is decent by most everyone, the story is nothing new just a generic revenge plot. The action scenes are the now typical for the franchise unrealistic over the top nonsense with a terminator
type character versus stupid canon fodder enemies that die easily by the dozens. They actually have an opportunity toward the end of the film to kill her but for some stupid reason decide to just capture her instead. They literally just the spent the entire movie trying to kill her than just don't when given the opportunity. Another example is the sword scene in the burning building when multiple enemies with guns refuse to simply shoot her and instead just run up to her to be killed like morons. The flamethrower guns with seemingly infinite 'ammo' is another notably bad writing moment. We are also told through the entire movie
by everyone how dangerous this tribe is and no one wants to mess with them. Then this newb just out of training easily slaughters her way through the entire town while they all act like bumbling untrained fools instead of a tribe of highly trained dangerous killers. I suppose it's a one time watch for fans of John Wick but it's the worst of the franchise by far.

So much wasted potential. Mark Petrie has been race swapped from white in the books to black. The Dr Jimmy Cody a white male in the books has been race and gender swapped to a black female. There is no mention of race or gender throughout for either character however this is clearly a DEI decision therefore the higher woke rating. Both of these characters are also of course 'Hero' characters. The rest of the casting
is pretty good and the acting is decent. The Striker character is a bit of a miscast and in not at all like the book. There are 2 major problems
with this movie. The first being it's far too short. The book is very long and trying to fit this into a sub 2 hr movie is ridiculous. Everything is far too rushed with no time spent on any of the characters. While they included most of the large cast and scenes from the book no time is spent on any backstory
and none of the characters are fleshed out at all. For instance the Ralphie and Danny sequences takes place over 5 days in the book but here it's in the same night and within several minutes. Characters jump to conclusions and say things that make no sense because huge chunks of the book are left out that get the characters and the story to that point. Then for some reason they added extra scenes not in the book that serve no purpose. A few odd changes as well with the biggest being the ending. It is completely changed for the worse and unrecognizable from the book for no apparent reason. The second issue is while the
the cinematography is excellent and the movie is shot very creepy with some good tension the actual horror and action scenes are terrible. There is no scares and those scenes are just bland and sterile. It's almost like a different director shot the action/horror sequences.

First 10 minutes has a lesbian couple in a sex scene. One of the main group is gay and its the entire identity of the character in every scene. There is a token DEI black female character. There is a cross dressing villain. This is a blatant rip off of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The acting is terrible and there are no scares and little blood with poor FX.
